Silly Science

This Term the Grade 3 students at BHPS have been investigating Solids, Liquids and Gases.

Today we had a Science Incursion. It was really fun and we got to do lots of experiments.

I think that I am safe to say that our favorite experiment was making rockets…..

Making Rockets

You will need:

A film canister and lid

Bicarb. Soda

Vinegar

Procedure:

Place about 1/4 of a teaspoon of bicarb into the canister lid, flatten it.

Fill the canister to about 1/4 full with vinegar.

Put the lid on, quickly shake, place, lid side down on a surface and move away quickly.

Watch your rocket soar into the sky!

Helpful hint: Move away quickly as you may be injured if the canister hits you!

We made our own rockets using a small, cylinder shaped container with a rubber stopper.
